The Perfect Ubud Day: Waterfalls, Rice Terraces & Volcano Views

One day, three icons — the order that beats the crowds at Tegenungan, Tegalalang and the Kintamani viewpoint.

The Perfect Ubud Day: Waterfalls, Rice Terraces & Volcano Views

Everyone wants waterfalls, rice terraces and a volcano viewpoint in one Ubud day. It fits — but only in the right order. Go backwards and you will queue at every stop.

Start at 08:00 with a waterfall swim. Tegenungan and Tibumana are 20 minutes from central Ubud, and at opening time you share the pool with a handful of people instead of a hundred. Bring swimwear and a dry bag; towel rentals exist but your own is better.

Late morning is for the Tegalalang rice terraces. Walk the ridge loop (30–45 minutes), do the jungle swing if you want the photo, then coffee tasting at one of the hillside warungs — the luwak coffee demonstration is free and genuinely interesting.

Lunch with a view at Kintamani overlooking Mount Batur caldera lake. Afternoon clouds often hide the peak, which is exactly why this stop goes midday, not morning.

Return via craft villages — Mas for woodcarving, Celuk for silver — or skip them and be back for a pool hour. A private driver makes this day flexible: stay longer where you love it, skip what bores you.

Our Ubud nature day runs exactly this route with hotel pickup, ticket-queue help and a host who adjusts timing to the day's crowds.
